Obituary

On the morning of February 11, 2008, Deacon Richard Clarence Ware fell asleep in the Lord at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Richard was born on December 1, 1946 in Petersburg, Virginia, to the late Leroy and Viola Ware. Richard was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System where he received his high school diploma and then furthered his education at Penn State University. Richard enlisted in the United States Army on July 4, 1967 and served in the Vietman War from 1968-1969. He was later given an Honorable Discharge on September 11, 1970 at the rank of Specialist, E-4. Richard was employed at the Alfred Industrial Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland for twenty years until the corporation closed down. He was then employed at the Carl Lowry Glass Company until his illness. Richard began a friendship with the former Denise Williams who would later become his wife, a union celebrated in Holy Matrimony on July 23, 1999. Richard was affectionately known as ''Ricky,'' ''Daddy,'' ''Pop-Pop.'' ''Slick Rick,'' and ''Honey''. Not only did he have many nicknames, but also he gave some to others like ''Turkey neck'' or ''Goose.'' Richard became ill in 2000, fighting what seemed to be the toughest battle. After a period of ease his illness resurfaced. But he never threw in the towel, he kept the faith. He had a loving spirit and an award-winning smile that will be missed by all. His warmth and sense of humor provided comfort and ease amidst any storm. He loved softball, traveling, home improvement and jazz. Richard Ware was spoiled with home-cooked meals in the comfort of his family and enjoyed every moment he spent with them especially in his final days. He joined Power House World Ministries under the fine leadership of Bishop James Winslow of Baltimore, Maryland on May 1, 2005 and was later baptisted on August 6, 2005. Those who knew Richard recognized and respected his ability to love unconditionally. He was always willing to serve the community and his pastor. On Januay 7, 2007 Richard was moved by the spirit of God to go beyond the walls of Power House World Ministries to join New Hope World Ministries under the dynamic leadership of Pastor Antonio D. Cotto in Baltimore, Maryland. Richard was very active in the church and always gave a lending hand no matter how sick he felt inside. His faithfulness and dedication led to many doors opening up for him. On January 7, 2007, he was appointed to the office of Deacon. On February 10, 2008, Richard was ordained Deacon and the Chairman of the Deacon Board of New Hope World Ministries. Richard's love for God was demonstrated in his commitment to his family, church and his community. His desire to please God and his wife brought him joy and peace. Deacon Richard C. Ware leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Deaconess Denise Ware; two brothers, Michael and Leroy; three daughters, Lisa, Markia and Lakia; his son, Delano; seven grandchildren, Ashley, Candice, Daron, Mytera, Akiva, Dominic and Ryane; his in-laws, Evelyn and Richard Williams, Angela Williams-Faulkner, Deborah Strand and Anthony Williams preceding him in death is his sister-in-law, Annette Williams; close friend, Kenny; and a host of family, friends and church family members. Deacon Ware's presence will truly be missed, but his memory and legacy will live on in all of us.
