Deborah Arlene Dorsey Brooks was born in Baltimore, Maryland, to Helen Pendleton Dorsey and George R. Dorsey on March 2,1952 and peacefully departed this life for a better one on December 1,2014. Deborah received her formal education in the Baltimore City Public School System. She was active in the Lake Clifton Junior ROTC Program and The Marching Band which included teaching other students how to march in parades and other special occasions. She was graduated from Eastern High School and later attended Coppin State College. Debbie, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, joined New Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church, in 2008 under the dynamic leadership of Bishop Paul E. Lee. She worked diligently in several capacities in the church. She willingly shared her gifts and talents with the Missionary Ministry, the Rod and Staff Pastoral Care Ministry, the Children's Dance Ministry, as well as assisting the Culinary Ministry. Debbie gave her heart to Jesus and was a dedicated disciple in His vineyard. Because of Debbie's work ethic, ambition, and perseverance, she was employed by the Maryland Transit Authority from where she retired after twenty-three years of dedicated service. She was also employed briefly with the Baltimore City Public School System to work with students who were mentally challenged. In both positions, she was noted for outstanding and conscientious service. God gifted Deborah with artistic abilities which she and her mother shared. She enjoyed decorating her home with unique items. She and her husband, Willie, enjoyed landscaping to beautify their property around their home. Their garden is well manicured. As an adult, she was a Master Baker, able to bake all manner of cakes through thoughts and imagination. On March 1,2000, Doborah married the love of her life, Willie Brooks. With Willie, they fostered a lovingly and warm home. Devotion to her family was characteristic of Debbie. Her undying love for her husband, care for their children, concern for neighbors, church family, friends and strangers alike reflected her true character and relationship with God. As she takes her journey from the land of the dying to the land of the Living, Deborah Arlene Dorsey Brooks will live forever in the memories of her husband, Willie Brooks; son, Maurice Dorsey; daughter, Eureka Dorsey; stepson, Ronald Brooks; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; brothers, Thomas Reed (Dorothy); Larry Reed (Jackie); sister, Mary Wilson (friend, Bennie); aunt, Bessie Wood (Dr. Marcus Wood); sisters in-law Vinmare Reed, Catherine Yates, and Eunice Brooks; and a host of other family and friends.
