Obituary

Deborah Diane Franklin, was called home to be with Christ on Sunday, October, 26, 2008. She was born January 22, 1951 in Baltimore, Maryland to Reverend Lillian Marie Fountaine and the late Walter Jackson Fountaine. Deborah was educatd in the Baltimore City School System and graduated from Paul Laurence Dunbar Senior High School in 1969. She later earned a bachelor's degree in social work BSW from Morgan State University. On March 4, 1971, she married Robert Franklin and from this union, they were blessed with three children: Gregory, who preceded her in death, Pamela, and Marlo. After holding a variety of professional positions, Deborah began a dual career path dedicated to helping others. A career in social work, spanning more than 25 years, ended with the Prince Georgory's Department os Social Services. Deborah was also a direct care provider for mentally and physically challenged adults for more for more than 15 years at The Chimes, Inc. Ms Franklin and Debbie, as she was referred to by coworkers, was described as caring, supportive, and always helpful. Many claimed her as the best supervisor for South County this may have been in part due to all of the rice pudding and holiday gifts she would bring. In each career, her giving and caring spirit truly touches the lives of many and has left lasting impressions. Affectionately known as "Grandmommy", she will long be remembered for her gentle, nurturing, and loving personality. She always placed other's needs before her own and truly wished for your happiness. Her philosophy was, "Everyone deserved to be happy - even if it's only for one day." Grandmommy was willing to give you anything she had....except for her feathered pillow, which after many years didn't have many feathers. She was willing to go to the end of the Earth for you.... as long as it wasn't snowing and it didn't disturb her sleep. She was always willing to come to you in your time of need...but she may be a little late - okay, a lot late. But none of this mattered, for each of us knows on a personal level that Grandmommy was well worth the wait. Family was especially important and she maintained a unique and special relationship with each and every member. There was an especially close bond between Deborah and her mother, for they were not just mother and daughter, but best friends. They talked, they laughed, they shared, they traveled, they ate well, her mother fried the fish and Deborah ate it, they shopped, but most important, they loved. Cherished memories of Deborah will keep and sustain her survivors; beloved dauther and son, Pamela and Marlo Sr., a special niece whom she referred to as her fourth child, Tiffany Fountaine; devoted mother, Lillian Fountaine; three loving brothers, Raymond Joyce, Stanley, Donnell; two caaring sisters, Darlene and Denise; ten grandchildren, Jasmine, 20, Amber, 15, Autumn, 14, Mdarlo Jr., 13, Brittney, 10, Andre', 9, Brandon, 9, Eric, 5, Jalen, 5, and Joshua, 3;Robert Franklin; two "acquired" sons and a daughter, Willie Tonnessen, Stanley Newsome, III and Lynn Brown; two dedicated friends, Ola Brown-Ford and Lindsay Nelson, Jr.; and a host of other relatives and countless, dear friends.
