Obituary

Deborah Ann Matthews, beloved daughter of the late Hazel Matthews and William Brown, was born on September 19, 1953 in Baltimore, Maryland. She traded this life for a better one on Thursday, November 11, 2010. Affectionately known as "Debbie" to her close friends, Deborah received her formal educatin through the Baltimore City Public School System. At an early age, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and attended St.Pius V Roman Catholic Church. Debbie was employed as a Domestic Engineer until her health ended her career. Debbie loved life and lived each day to the fullest. Although she had many passions, her greatest pleasure came from spending quality time with her family, especilally her grandchildren, and close friends. She alson enjoyed preparing tasty meals and listening to a variety of music. Always greeting you with a warm smile, Debbie's electrifying personality caused everyone who knew her to love her. As the family matriarch, she was always willing to generously give inconditional love and support to immediate and extended family alike. She was determined to set a positive example for others. During the course of her life, she inspired and touched the lives of numerous people. Throughout her illness, she demonstrated strength and courage. Her heart desire was to give love freely in hopes of receiving a little in return. Debbie was preceded in death by her life long companion, Bernard Nelson: daughter, Markita Nelson, and two brothers, Marvin and Gene Matthews. As Debbie loved the Lord, her daily saying was "...I'm alright God has my back. Icarry Him in my heart and worship Him wherever I am."
