Daughter of the late James and Annie M Flythe was born on Octo- ber 25,1915, the first often children, in Northampton County, North Carolina. Decie departed this life on June 29, 2014, just four months shy of her 99th birthday, at the Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital Center in Baltimore. She received her education in the public schools of Pendleton, North Carolina. At an early age, she joined Zoar Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir with her mother. After moving to Baltimore, she joined City Temple of Baltimore where she remained a faithful member. On September 20, 1930 she married the late Olie W Daye, Sr. with whom she remained in holy matrimony until his death in No- vember 1996 (66 years). To this union four children were born, Olie W Day, Jr., Milton Daye, Decie "Evelyn" Daye, and Bruce Wayne Daye, Sr. (all preceding her in death). Decie's caring and nurturing ways lead her to the field of nurs- ing, which is the profession that she enjoyed until her retirement. She loved attending church, enjoyed gospel music, and was an excellent cook. Decie leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter-in-law, Brenda Daye of New Castle, Delaware; honorary son-in-law, Franklin West; her grandchildren, Charlene Tapia, Carolyn Lyles, Bruce W Daye, Jr. (wife Linda), Kevin L. Daye (wife Glenda), Valda Perkins, Daren Daye, Jacquelyn Mitchell (husband Anthony), Edwin Perkins, Sr., Donald Pinacle-deceased, Beverly Daye, Phyllis Pinacle, Chandra Miller (husband Derrick), Chanda Jackson (husband Che); 31 great grandchildren; 26 great-great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
