Delervie "Dee Dee" Johnson, daughter of the late Clarence Raymond Smith, Jr.
and Edna May "Sister" Johnson, was born on June 13,1964 in Baltimore, MD.
She departed this life on January 24, 2016.
Dee Dee grew up in East Baltimore where she was raised by Edna Johnson
(Grandmother), Hercules William, Jr. (Stepfather/Dad), and mother. She
attended Baltimore City Public Schools and worked for the Social Security
Administration. However, Dee Dee made a living as the "Snowball Lady" and
selling dinners out of her house. If you were really close to Dee Dee you knew
she loved to eat a special kind of ice and at any time would get a spoon and
maybe cup and eat the frost right out of the freezer. She loved to play the lottery
and never let a day go by without playing, but what she would do is not tell you
if she hit that day. She loved having dogs and treated them like one of her
children even most recently her baby Roxie. She had an infectious smile and
loved to party, dance, laugh, and have a good time amongst all those she loved.
Dee Dee became a mother at a young age to the love, pride, and joy of her
life Demetrio McCullough "Meo". Soon after Meo's birth "Sister" would give
birth to Melissa Berry (sister). Melissa "Banana", as Dee Dee affectionately
called her, was raised by her sister, and over time proved to be more of a mother
then a sister and helped her become the woman and mother she is today. Their
bond is a special one that will never be broken or replaced. Dee Dee had three
loyal and lifelong friends Cheryl, Norkeita, and Gloria "Norny", When
"Norny" gave birth to Dominique it was only befitting that Dee Dee would
become her Godmother, the two became inseparable, and Dee Dee became a
mother to Dominique over time. If you didn't know it people would think they
were mother and daughter. Over the years she became a mother to many
people, but Desmond Scruggs was one of the ones who held a special place in
her heart as a second son, in addition to her granddaughter Ziyan who has been
Delervie side kick since birth.
Delervie's love for family, life, and infectious smile will forever live on through
her children, Demetrio McCullough (son), Melissa Berry (sister), Dominique
Fitzgerald (Goddaughter), and Desmond Scruggs (Godson), Grandchildren
