Obituary

Delores Elizabeth Oliver, the beloved daughter of the late Calvin and Hilda Vaughn, was born on January 10, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland. she departed this life on Friday, January 27, 2012 after a short illness. On December 21, 1958, Delores met and married Allen L. Oliver Sr.,, who preceded her in death. this reunion formed a bond between two families that will never be broken. Losie, as she was called by family and friends, attended the Baltimore City Public School system. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age and she tried to attend church whenever her health permitted. Whether she was studying - The Word of the Bible, her faith was strong. She held numerous positions throughout her life including a wife, mother, sister and friend. None of these positions were as important as her life long position being a Mom. Eventhough circumstances did not allow her to spend as much time as she would have like to with her children, her love for them ran deep and she would have done anything to ensure their happiness and well being. Family and friends were a very important part of her life and she loved to spend time with them, especially if they were willing to go to the store for her. One of the last conversations my Mom had was one where she told her family that the doctor was releasing her to go home on January 27, 2012. Little did we know at that time, my Mom was not talking about her earthly home, but it appears that God had spoken and He was preparing her for her transition to her heavenly home. Delores leaves to cherish her memory; three sons, Allen L. Oliver, Jr., Michael M. Oliver and Anthony S. Boddie; two daughters, Yvette E. Oliver and Denetria N. Cornish; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, a very sister, Thelma Partlow and Lucille Vaughn; five brothers, Albert, Leon, Calvin Jr., Larry and Clifton Vaughn; two daughters-in-law, Anna Oliver and Van Oliver; a very devoted god-daughter, Lisa Smith; two devoted friends, Linwood Jones and Lucille Vanlandingham; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
