Obituary

DELORES LUCILLE WHITEHEAD, daughter of the late James A. and Agnes L. Cromer, was born on May 1, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland. Delores took flight to her eternal home on April 7, 2013 after a lengthy illness. She received her formal education from the Baltimore City Public School System. Lorsey (as she was fondly called by her family) accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Early in life Delores met and married Morris Lee Whitehead, no children were born to this union. However, later, she was blessed with a daughter, Danna who loved and cherished her mother fondly, until the end. Delores enjoyed her work bartending, where she shared her wit, wisdom, sassy attitude and humor with others, bringing them great joy. Her favorite inspirational phrase to family and friends was to "Stay Strong". Delores worked many years for Park Sausages Company and later with Crispy Bagel Company, where she retired. Throughout her life, Lorsey was the positive voice within her family. Her love and devotion never dwindled for her daughter, grandchildren and siblings. She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Danna D. Johnson; three grandsons, Darryl Antoine Vanager, Gregory W. Johnson Jr. and Derek Nathaniel Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Kayla Jarissa Vanager and Cameron Antoine Vanager; three sisters, Cynthia Howell, Pamela Mitchell and June Cromer; one brother, Marvin Cromer; one sister-in-law, Ann Cromer; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. GRANDMOTHER My heart never felt so much pain The sky came together and dropped lots of rain I thought my life was coming to an end All I know is I will never give in You were the reason I became who I am You hold my life in the palm of your hand You showed me right from wrong But the day you died everything went wrong You knew me oh so well The day you died my heart fell I will never forget you until I die Maybe someday we will meet up in the sky I know the Lord took you cause it was time But He should of let me say the right goodbye I think of you from day to day Wondering what you would think of me today.
