Denise M. Lowery was born at City Hospital on Wednesday,
February 23,1972. She was brought home with gifts, one
resembling a TastyKake pie box that was placed in her nursery.
My mother noticed it and started calling Denise "Tasty Cake"
which was shortened to "Taste", then "Tas". Most people knew
She completed her education at St. Elizabeth School, and
attended The Athelas Institute day programs and, while she had
medical challenges, she was fearless. When we as a family
suffered the loss of her stillborn brother, at 10 years old she
prayed for another baby brother. Yah in His infinite wisdom
answered her prayer and along came her little brother Sam. She
loved him and thought he could do the impossible.
My baby was truly blessed to have a family different from most.
She was my companion and my sparring partner. She helped
me learn patience and helped made me who I am today.
Denise Lowery leaves behind her mother Denise M. Lowery,
brother E-Samuel McClary, her uncle Robert Jefferson and
other family members: Marlyn Tyson; Caroline Bynoe; Steven
Langley; Theresa, Tiffany, and Tamera Thornton; Jenny
Johnson; Winter, and Dasia Johnson, and Diamond Miller;
Doreen Smiley; Kendra Howard; Arlette Covington; Yahtiley-
Phoenix; Robert Ward; Burnedette Green; Latonya Graham;
Samantha and Tera Lowery, Thomas Smith; Brandan Williams;
Lacole Legrand; Jessica Shaw; Forrest Poindexter; Mary
Owens; Marou Dirieh, Mama and all the people of Robb Street
who looked out for her. She preceeded in death her grandfather,
Leon Jefferson Sr., grandmother Elizabeth Jefferson, and Uncle
Leon Jefferson Jr.
