Derrick Samuel Blankenship, son of James (Jimmy) Stokes and the Joyce (Judy) Blankenship, was born on July 27, 1964 in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on July 8, 2013 after a lengthy illness. He received his education from Baltimore City Public Schools. He worked multiple jobs throughout his life. Derrick was a jack of all trades and always has a hustle. He married LaRae Wilson. And, out of this union five (5) sons were born. Derrick had a love for kids, cars, and clothes. We always teased him by telling him, "Boy, you have more lives than a cat." Derrick made numerous friends along the way and will be missed by everyone who knew him. Derrick was preceded in death by Joyce "Judy" (mother) and Derrick Blankenship, Jr. (oldest son from previous relationship). He leaves to mourn a grandmother, Susie; estranged wife, LaRae; sons, Darrius, Darriun, Derrick, Jr., Gabriele, and Daniel; daughter, Nyesha; baby sister, Lakeisha (Darryl); sister-cousins, Pam, Lisa, and Hadiyah; nephew, Ian; nieces, Bailey and Erin; devoted aunts, JoAnn and Faida; uncle, Butch; very special friend, Chante; a good friend, Donnell; and a host of relatives and friends.
