Derrick Lamont Turner was born April 4, 1976 in Baltimore Maryland to James and Cynthia Turner. He was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and he graduated from Forest Park High School in 1994.

Derrick was introduced to Christ at an early age. He attended Shiloh Christian Community Church with his mother and he was a member of the Young Adult Ministry. A close friend and employer, Mr. Baker led him to join New Shiloh Baptist Church under the Pastorate of the late Dr. Harold Carter, Sr.

Derrick held several jobs but he was employed by Alliance for the last 7 years where he made many friends and he built a special relationship with his supervisor Ms. "V".

Derrick was a true gentleman. He was charismatic, sociable, and very humorous. No one had a personality like his. What can be said about his favorite football team "The Baltimore Ravens" all great things coming from him. He looked forward to watching those games with his dad every time they played. Sports was his forte. He knew the March Madness brackets almost as well as the sports commentators.

Derrick had a great love for his family and a special love for those who touched his life in one way or another. He will be truly missed.

Derrick leaves to cherish his memory, his parents James and Cynthia Turner, sister Heather Womack (Kevin), one niece Wynter Womack and one nephew Kevin Womack Jr., five uncles: Irvin Turner, James Williams – both of whom preceded him in death, Mark Turner ( Wanda), Daniel Turner, Arnold Williams, Kenneth Williams (Mary), one aunt Rita Williams, cousins: James Heath, Kenyetta Winslow (Keith), Stacey Gilliam (L.J), Nicholas Turner, Tavon Turner, Nyree Williams, Keena Williams, Aisha Williams and several adopted Mothers, Fathers, Aunts and Uncles, as well as a host of friends and a number of "neighborhood buddies".
