Dominic Chapman was born on April 24, 1971. He transitioned on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 after 10 months of suffering pancreatic cancer.
Dominic was affectionately known as a kind, gentle, caring, respectful man and was empathetic to others. He was ambitious and worked diligently to accomplish his goals. Dom, as his mom called him, made numerous friends. He loved his family very much and visited with his mom weekly.
Dominic would call his mother and ask if she needed anything done. Mom would say, well I'm cutting the grass today. Dom would come to her home and cut the grass, help plant flowers, paint the railings and porch, take out the trash and anything chore she needed to be done.
Dominic enjoyed watching football - Ravens especially on TV, playing games such as chess and scrabble and the word game – "Words with Friends."
Dominic attended church with his mom at New Psalmist Baptist Church and joined in 2019, and frequently visited other churches. Dominic loved gospel songs because they spoke to his heart, plus Dom loved to sing and had a beautiful tenor voice.
Dominic attended Baltimore City Public Schools as a child and later received his High School Diploma (GED). He enjoyed learning and his favorite subjects were math and science.
Dominic grew to be a strong, wise young man. He was a great listener and gave simple advice. Dominic aspired to become a drug counselor to help others.
Dominic worked for AutoZone Warehouse as a forklift driver for 3 1/2 years. The last year of his employment at Auto Zone Warehouse, Dom became supervisor. Dominic loved his jobe and worked diligently until he became ill.
Dominic supported the Helping Oppressed People Excel Organization H.O.P.E. This program helped men and women with challenges of returning to society after incarceration. Dominic participated in food giveaways and helped give out school supplies to children. He was very serious about this program and gave much of his time to make life better for someone else. Dominic met Jessica Lynn Johnson and their relationship blossomed into a wonderful bond between two people who loved each other very much and they were engaged to be married.
Dominic leaves to mourn: two sons - Trent Chapman and Justin Geary; one granddaughter, Tori Chapman; Mother, Linda Christian (Bernard); Jessica Lynn Johnson, fiancé; one loving brother, Sean Lee Manigault, Sr. one sister, Stacey Cole; god sister, Dionne Washington; aunts, Gail Chapman Robinson (Michael) and Rita Chapman, one uncle, Kenneth Chapman (Thelma); nieces, Kiara Manigault, Kamyah Manigault and Kiyah Manigault, one nephew Sean Lee Manigault, Jr.; cousins, Brandon Nobles, Keisha Chapman and Neon Chapman, Keyonna Hall and other family members and many friends. Family who preceded Dominic in death: Father, Frank Cole; Grandmother, Annie Ruth Chapman; Grandfather, James Moore; aunt, Clora Chapman Hall, cousins, Trent Chapman and Karon Baxter.
