IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Doris
Armstead
June 9, 1936 – January 23, 2018
Mrs. Doris Armstead was born on June 9, 1936 to Eva Graham and George Taylor
in Calvert County, Maryland and departed this life on Tuesday, January 23,2018.
Mrs. Doris was the youngest of 11 children: Asker, Frank Jr., Mary, Robert,
Rebecca, Rosetta, Bertha, Preston, Earl, and Helen. Mrs. Doris attended Baltimore
City Public Schools. In Baltimore City Public Schools, she worked as a nurse, school
aide, and security guard. Mrs. Doris was affectionately known to her children and
many others as Momma, Grand mom, and Nana. As "momma" would say her
greatest joy in life was raising her children.
Momma enjoyed dancing, going to yard sales, solving puzzles, and visiting Calvert
County. She loved the color canary yellow and carnations. She had a giving heart
as an angel on earth that shined through her smile and spirit. Mommas favorite
song was Gladys Night and the Pips, "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me"
because she said that the song represented her life story. Momma's last request
was to take a family portrait to commemorate the five generations of her fami Iy.
This past Thanksgiving dinner, as a surprise, she served as the Honoree at the
Thanksgiving celebration. It warmed Momma's heart to see her wish come true.
The family came together to show appreciation and give her thanks for all that
she is, all that she had done, and all the love that she has instilled in her family.
Her legacy was celebrated and will continue to live on through the family.
Momma was preceded in death by six of her children: Preston, Vanessa, Yevette,
Lil Doris, Antonio, and Darlene and one great granddaughter Tyreka. She leaves
to mourn her remaining children: Dartagnan, Rosetta, Pierre, Francoise, Nicole,
and her great grandson Dequan who Momma raised as her own. Twenty -one
grandchildren: Venus, Harnethia, Shantel, Harry, Chalako, Preston, Danielle,
Derelle, Deanna, Kevin, Michelle, A
