DORIS ZERLENE DOTSON HARVEY peacefully departed this life, on Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Glen Burnie Health and Rehabilitation Center. Doris was the ninth child of the late Daniel and Cordelia Dotson. She was born on August 15, 1919 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Doris was educated in the Anne Arundel County and Baltimore City School Systems. She also attended Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. On June 28, 1952, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late John Allen Harvey, Sr. They were blessed with two children, John Jr. and Mark deceased. Doris was a loving wife and mother and an excellent homemaker. She loved her family and enjoyed reminiscing about family history. She also loved gardening and canning vegetable from her garden. In earlier years she enjoyed traveling with her family and in their little station wagon. She was employed at Fort Hollabird and later retired from the Social Security Administration. Doris grew up in a Christian home and later continued her spiritual growth by joining John Wesley United Methodist Church. She leaves to rejoice in her life and memory: one son, John Harvey Jr.; two brothers-in-law, Bradie Matthews and David Wallace, Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and a dear friend, Daisy DuBose; a special caregiver and friend, Vanessa Comfort.
