Obituary

Doris Ravian Coates Terry, 79, of Glen Burnie, MD, known to most as "Dot" was called to Glory by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 12, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Beloved Mother, loyal sister, wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and faithful friend. Doris was born on March 2, 1930 to the late Otto and Elexzina Coates in Anne Arundel, MD. Doris was raised in Freetown with her silblings and working countless hours in the vegetable garden. She received her education at the Old Freetown School and Wiley H. Bates. In 1954, Doris married John H. Terrywho proceeded her in death, out of this union they had three children, CelestineliftieBouyer, ElesajeanTerry, and Selina Lonnie GirlTerry. Doris was a homemaker, raising and babysitting everyone's childrenwas her a member of Hall united Methdist Church at an early age. Later in life she rededicated herself. Doris enjoyed playing cards, domino's jigsaw and word puzzles with her sisters. After the passing of two sisters, it was her routine to go to her sister Clara's house everyday and sit at the other end of the table doing puzzles and eating dinner.Lets not forget the gum clicking and humming, that was sure her specialty. Doris was also known as the little lady form Freetown with the switch, meanig that sexy walk. She had three sisters who proceeded her in death Kermit, Roosevelt, Thomas and Freddie Coates. Doris had four special nieces who kept her laughing, Bernda Moses, Dena Jackson, Diane Scurry, and Goldie Wright. She also had three special nephews that always kept her spirits up, Tyrone Carterwho preceded her in death, Darrly and Carl Johnson. Doris leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Celestine Bouyer, Elesa Terry, and Selina Terry JamesPierreWatts. Four grandchildren, Dawine Dorsey, Denise WebsterDemond, Connie Winchester-Brantly Norman, Cierra Winchester Anthony Archie. Ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. One loving and devoted sister, Clara Johnson. Three brtohers-in-law, Richard, Fred and Celbrough. Three sisters-in-law, Bessie Edythe, and Ercell Terry all from New York. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends.
