Obituary

Doris Marie Williams Wade, daughter of the late Benjamin Williams and Marie Byrd Williams, was born on February 28, 1931 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on August 7, 2007 after being illfor several years. She was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated from George Washington Carver Vocational Technical High School in 1947. In her early twenties, she began a long term career working in hospitals. During the50's, Doris became the first Black female operating room technician at the University of Maryland Hospital. Doris made friends wherever she went. She enjoyed being with people, going to parties, eating good foodand being with her family. There was a brief marriage to Curtis Wade. After becoming separated they remained friends. In later years, Doris was active with the Edgewood Management Tenant Asociation in the capacity of President. She worked with neighbors and local politicians. A small park was named after her on Edgewood's property. Doris had the ''gift of grab'' and could make you laugh, blush or shake your head. She and her brand of humor will be missed. She leaves to mourn: her daughter, Carole J. Cannon; her son, Keith L. Christian; two brothers, Benjamin and Ralph Williams; three grandchildren, Milton Cnnon Jr., Nicole Christian and Keith Christian II; a host of in-laws, nephews, other relatives and friends.
