Obituary

Dorothea Louise Ferguson Tiller was born August 5, 1940 to the late William Joseph Ferguson, and Flossie Chambers Ferguson. She was the first and only girl to five brothers.

She departed this life on December 26, 2015 suddenly, without warning, she transitioned from labor to reward.

She was educated in the Baltimore City Public School system. She majored in cosmetology. She became a licensed beautician after graduating from Carver Vocational Technical High in 1959. She worked in her trade for approximately ten years.

Dot, as she was called by family and friends later went to work for Pittsburg Plate Glass Company, where a number of her family members were employed. She became a master brush maker.

Dorothea decided to move to New York City in 1970 for a better job with the Housing Authority. Dot was always pursuing to improve herself. She continued her education taking college courses in psychology, and counseling, while working full time.

In 1990 she relocated to Birmingham, Alabama to work for the Census Bureau, where she worked until her retirement in 2007. She moved back to Baltimore two years ago to be closer to family, because of health reasons.

Dorothea loved to cook, and was an excellent cook, who cooked delicious home cooked meals, even when cooking for just herself. She believed in eating wholesome foods, with lots of fresh vegetables.

Dot loved to entertain, and was the "hostess with the mostest", as she was fondly called by family, and friends.

Dorothea accepted the Lord at an early age, growing up in the family'S home church, Evergreen AME Church, of
Baltimore, Maryland. While living in Birmingham, Alabama, she joined New Pilgrim Baptist Church, feeling the
need to be Baptized --

After returning to Baltimore, she decided to attend the closest church to her residence. After attending for a while as a visitor, she decided to join.

She was a member of the St. Gabriel Catholic Church until her death. She was very happy with the training, reception, and the many activities for seniors.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one brother William C. Ferguson (Virginia), Brothers Augustus, Vernon, Paul Ferguson, and Jerome Dorsey preceded her in death, two sisters- in-law, Mary Reed Dorsey of New York, and Jacqueline Ferguson of Birmingham, Alabama, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves to cherish one godson, Melvin Brown, three BFF's, Ethel White, Dottie Cromarty of Baltimore, and Sarah Lee of New, York City" a dear male friend, Wayne Pratt, a dedicated Pastor Friend, Rev. Ronald Calhoun, of Birmingham, Alabama, and many friends and relatives in Baltimore, New York, Birmingham, and numerous
cities all over the states, and abroad.
