Obituary

Dorothy Reb e cca Carter , was born on August 31, 1941 to the late
Irving and Elnora Harris in Cartersville, Virginia. She was called home by
her Heavenly Father on January 13,2018.

She received her education in the Cumberland Public School System in
Cartersville, VA. In 1957, she moved to Baltimore, MD. In 1962, Dorothy
was employed at the University of Maryland Medical System. Dorothy
wanted to advance her career and enrolled in the Community College
of Baltimore City. Dorothy worked vigorously to attain academic success
while maintaining a work life balance. This eventually earned her an
Associate of Arts Degree in Dietic Technology.

Due to Dorothy's work ethic, and attention to detail, she was promoted
to Dietary Manager. Given this promotion, Dorothy managed a host of
people, touching many lives throughout her journey. In 1993, Dorothy
retired with the achievement of great honors.

In Dorothy's retirement, she worked for the Baltimore City Public
School System as a Bus Aide assisting children with disabilities.
Although, Dorothy did not bear any children, she grew to love and
cherish these students as her own. These children brought immense
joy to her life. Dorothy smiled while telling stories of her daily
interactions.

Dorothy met Robert Carter Jr. in the late 1970's. Later in the 1990's
both Robert and Dorothy reconnected. After a long relationship, they
were united in Holy Matrimony on March 31, 2000.

Dorothy was the epiphany of a class-act. She was a genuine- delicate
spirit. She took great pride in her appearance but was even more
dedicated to her loved ones by putting others before herself. Even in her
later years with her Alzheimer's Disease; she was always kind to others.
Often when her nursing aides would clothe her, she would pull down her
attire. Dorothy was a true lady in every way!

;,

She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, home decor,
and traveling. Dorothy was truly admired by all who knew her.

Dorothy received Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age, and
Fellowshipped at Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of the late
Reverend Nathaniel Higgs; present Reverend Donte Hickman. Dorothy was
a faithful member and partook in several ministries.

She leaves to mourn, her husband Robert Carter Jr., niece Miriam Smith,
great nieces Lakisha Holly, Brooke Elam, Kelly Homes, and great nephew
Malik Holmes, dear friends Lowressa Walker, and Gloria Stewart, and a host
of other relatives and friends.
