Dorothy Givens, daughter of the late Emma Butler and stepfather Garfield Butler was born on March 20, 1923 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Sunday, May 26, 2013. Dorothy was always a loving person, she was a religious person. She came out of school in 9th grade and started working doing domestic work, from there she had seasonal jobs. Then she found her way in sewing drapes and chair covers, from there she went to D.C. to take a test, came back to Baltimore and work her way in the Social Security Building and retired in 1989. She loved to fish, read, watch TV and family gatherings. She met and married the late Henry Givens and they had one son, the late Ronald Givens. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Walter Smith and one sister, Sylvia Johnson. She leaves to mourn: niece, Gilda; nephew, James Milton; great nephews, Donald Johnson, Earl and Ether; great nieces, Tracy, Diane and Melva and a host of other relatives and friends.
