Obituary

Dorothy Mae Harrell, the daughter of the late John Henry and Annie Harrell was born ion January 10, 1947 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2012 after a brief illness. Dorothy, lovingly known as Dot, received her education in the Baltimore City Public Schools. She spent many years as a barmaid as well as caring for the children in her family; however she spent most of her years Solo formerly Sweetheart Cup Company until she retired in 2008 after 25 years of service. Dot was a very generous and loving person. She would give her last to those she loved without hesitation. She loved to laugh and joke and she had the best laugh. Her exuberant laughter could be heard throughout the house during family gatherings. These characteristics are what made her loved throughout her neighborhood as well. Dot loved to go to the casinos to play the slots; among her favorites were Dover Downs and Atlantic City. If you really wanted to bring a smile to her face, all you had to do was hand her a couple of scratch off lottery tickets. Dot's family was her pride and joy. You would often find her cooking big meals on Sundays, and waiting for her nieces and nephews to come get a plate. Everyone loved her seafood salad and rice pudding; they were the most requested items at any function. She was so many things to so many people; friends, mother and the very best aunt; she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Dot is survived by her son Kevin Harrell; two brothers, Charles and Herman Harrell; three sisters, Jean and Evelyn Harrell ad Janice Moore; sister-in-law Cynthia Harrell; god Daughter Zaleema Duppins; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. Brother Robert and sister Gwendolyn Harrell preceded her in death.
