DOROTHY MAE HERRINGTON JOHNSON, beloved daughter of the late Bernie Bell and Myna Lee Herrington, was born on September 19, 1926 in Sardis, GA and departed this life July 15, 2014 at the Joseph Richey Hospice Center. Dorothy received her education in the Georgia public school system. In 1946, Dorothy traveled to Baltimore where she met James Cleveland Johnson, Sr. On April 8, 1951, Dorothy was wed to James and through this union two children were born, James (Jimmy) C. Johnson, J r. and Tina Marie Johnson. Dorothy, at a young age, accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in the Methodist faith in Georgia. Dorothy continued her faith until her death. She was a faithful member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church until her health no longer permitted her to attend church services. Dorothy was a very generous and caring person. If anyone was in need financially or needed food or clothing, Dorothy was there to help and would not expect anything in return as she did these acts out of kindness from her heart and her love for mankind. Dorothy was a fun-loving person who loved the Orioles and Ravens. She was also a sharp dresser and loved to cook, dance and have fun entertaining friends and family. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband James and son Jimmy. Her precious memory will live on through: her daughter, Tina and her son-in-law, Gerald Commodore (who she fondly called "Doll Baby") of BaltiITl?re, MD; brother, Samuel Herrington of Detroit, Michigan; brother-in-law, Coy Johnson of Baltimore, MD; one daughter-in-law, one granddaughter, one grandson, three great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews.
