Obituary

Dorothy Mae Johnson , daughter of the late Junius
and Lucille Benn, was born on May 30, 1934 in Hartsville, S.c. She
was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2018,
after a brief period of illness.

Dorothy Mae received her primary education in the South
CarolinaPublic School System. She continued her education
in Baltimore,Maryland where she and her family moved in her
youthful years.

In her late teens, ~ met and married the late William A. Johnson, II.
From this union, seven children were born: Michael, Ronald, William ill,
Steven, Rosa, Beverly, and Joseph.

In the late 70' s Dorothy made the decision to continue her education
and went on to earn her high school diploma at the age of 45. But she
didn't stop there, she went on to earn an Associate's Degree in Criminal
Justice from Baltimore City Community College in the early 1980s.
In addition, she accomplished earning certifications through
Security Guard Training Programs at Coppin State College and
Morgan State University .

In her early working career, ~ was employed for many years at London
Fog Coat Factory where she worked as a seamstress making coat sleeves.
Any of us with a classic London Fog coat may be carrying a small piece of
Dorothy with them, just think: of her as the Angel on your shoulder. She
began her career in Security through working for the City of Baltimore
and later went on to work for Bon Secours Hospital, where she
advanced until her retirement in 2008, after 27 years of service.

~ loved taking care of others, and always had a nurturing heart, not
only for her children, family, and friends, but she showed her genuine
spirit of love to everyone she encountered. She was famous for her
face-squeeze kisses that only a loving Grandma could give.

~ accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. For many years,
she was a faithful member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church where she
nurtured her children in the word of God. She later joined Perkins
Square Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until
her passing.

~ unique expression of love touched so many lives. The joy of her presence
was always filled with laughter and love. Her Love for the Lord was always
ever-present through her daily ritual of reading the bible and her special
prayers that she always ended with " From Tim e to T t m e" .

She leaves to cherish her memory: four sons, Michael Burnside (Cheryl),
Ronald (Antoinette), William III (Teresa) and Joseph; one daughter Rosa;
five granddaughters, Sonya, Regina, Nicole, Stephanie and Ashley; nine
grandsons, Eric, Ronald Jr., Michael Anthony, Edreick, Michael II, Wade,
