Dorothy Moulton Rankin, daughther of the lateMabel Victoria Moulton nee DeCoursey was born on February 2, 1924. She was the second eldest of five children. On Monday, July 14, the Master looked down, and called His servant home. Dorothy attended St. Barnabas Catholic School and the Baltimore City Public schools graduating from Frederick Douglass, June 1942. After graduating, Dorothy began working at the Social Security Administration. Over the years, she continued employment with various Federal Government Agencies, the longest being the Department of Defense in Philadelphia, Pa; where she retired after twenty-five years of service. At an early age, Dorothy developed an interest in sewing, From then on she started a semstress business, making and designing clothes for family and friends. Later she became interested in quilting and was very talented in this field. She continued sewing and quilting until her health began to decline. Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to William Rankin on February 13, 1948. He preceded her in death. Out of this union two daughters were born, Beverly James and Dianne Epps. Dorothy traveled extensively in the United States and Africa. She lived in Dar-Es Salaam, Tanzania for four years. She was preceded in death by her son, Rodney. She leaves to cherish her memory: two daughters, Beverly james and Dianne; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Thelma, Pearl, and Lillian; one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
