Obituary

Dorothy Mae Sheppard was born on July 14, 1925 to the late Saylor and Flossie Stephens in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She departed this life suddenly on August 17, 2007. Dorothy received her early education in the Johnstown public schools and graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 1945. she attended and graduated from APEX Beauty School, earning a certificate of Cosmetology. For over fifty years, she was employed as a licensed cosmetologist in the Baltimore Metro Area. In July of 1969, Dorothy married the late Ernest Sheppard. No children were born from this union. They loved to travel together, especially to the Eastern Shore and Atlantic City. In addition, they enjoyed spending time fishing. At an early age, Dorothy accepted Christ in her life. She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and then later became a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Senior Circle. One of her greatest passions was to be in church worshipping God with other believers. Dorothy loved all of her family members and found joy in being around them. She was the ''perfect hostess'' and loved to entertain family and friends at her home. She thoroughly enjoyed reading, listening to music, and making and receiving phone calls to keep in touch. She was an avid fan of wrestling and her favorite television program was ''WWF Smackdown.'' She was also an enthusiastic fan of the Baltimore Ravens. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eleanor Johnson and Lucille Parson and a brother, Ernest Stephens. She leaves to cherish her memory; two sisters, Vivian Johnson and Rosa Thomas; four brothers-in-law, Charles Sheppard, William Parson, Lloyd Thomas and Leroy Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Sarah Hicks and Barbara Nelson; stepdaughter, Delores Brunson; stepson, Reginald Sheppard and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
