Obituary

On Saturday May 28, 2b16, Douglass Robert Harris Jr. was called into God's eternal
presence. Affectionately known to family and friends as "Dougie", he began his sojourn on
earth January 28, 1952 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Douglass R. Harris Sf. and
Lucille L. Harris who both preceded him in death.

Douglass was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools. He also attended Baltimore
Community College.

He was in the US Army Reserve. He worked at the Social Security Administration then
later began working at the United States Post Office, after which making his career as a
Security Officer where he worked for many years at the Social Security Administration as
well as many other outside agencies.

In March 1980 he met the love of his life Australia N. Perry. They were united in marriage
on October 17, 1992. Together they shared with many friends, lots of love, food, and much
laughter.

Douglass had prolific basketball powers. He played all over Baltimore City as well as
Baltimore County where he met numerous friends. He was well known and well-liked.
Wherever he traveled he was encountered by someone who knew him.

Douglass truly trusted and believed in God. He accepted Christ as his personal savior. His
love for God helped him to endure his lengthy illness.

Douglass was blessed with many talents. His outgoing personality had a way of catching
anyone's attention. To know him was to love him. He was looked upon as the neighborhood
barber. His skills enabled him to cut the hair of many friends and family during his life
time. He has cut some peoples hair as children that he continued to cut as adults. Douglass
loved to sing. He studied voice at Baltimore Community College and he sang in "All God's
Children's Choir" at SSA. He was known to share his gift of song at weddings, birthday
parties, retirement parties and many other occasions. Wherever he sang he always left a
lasting inspirational impression.

Douglass was a lover of music. He sang in various bands around the city such as The
Ascension Band, and Stolen Moments, just to name a few. He also enjoyed spending time
with friends watching videos of various artists singing and performing in concerts.

Douglass had "a way" of articulating his thoughts. He was truly a word maestro and will
always be remembered for his sharp wit and humor that could cut as well as heal; followed
by a bell
