Dwayne Dominic Perry, Sr. affectionately called Nicky was born to
Rosalind Perry on October 6, 1958, in Baltimore, Maryland. Nicky left
his earthly body and found rest with his Heavenly Father on March 31,
2016, after his battle with cancer.
Nicky attended Catholic schools in Baltimore City before graduating
from Woodlawn High School. At a young age, he developed an
aptitude for construction and a talent for cutting hair. He would later
go on to perfect his talents to become a skilled welder and tradesmen.
He worked for Major Steel Erection, Inc., Bethlehem Steel Shipyard,
American Bridge Builders, and Sparrows Point Shipyard before
opening his own company R&D Contractors, Inc. with his friend Ray.
Nicky was a quick study and regularly completed certificate programs
for his trades.
You couldn't ride in a car with Nicky anywhere without him pointing
out all the projects he worked on. He was extremely proud of his work
and contributions to the city he loved. He could speak in detail about
the place where he left his mark on ships, under bridges, on metal
benches, subway installations, and buildings.
His greatest accomplishment, however, is his three children, Dwayne
Dominic Perry Jr., Jessica Michelle Blackwell-Parks and Dominic
Gerard Perry (who preceded him in death). Nicky enjoyed his dual
identity as skilled craftsman, and his role as dad. His children were his
world and his favorite introduction was "Hi, my name is Nicky and I
am their father."
Nicky loved having a good time and documenting it with his Polaroid
camera. His smile could light up a room and his laugh was infectious.
Always a slave to fashion best known for having the most stylish hats,
Nicky could be found on the dance floor, traveling, attending a concert
or enjoying a boxing match or basketball game.
He leaves to cherish his life, love and memory: mother Rosalind, son,
Dwayne Perry Jr., daughter-in-law Michelle, four grandchildren Deon,
Daylin, Dustin and Zorin, daughter Jessica, son-in-law Langston, son
Dominic, (who proceeded him in death), sister Belinda, nephew
Christopher, aunts Angela and Julia, uncles Roderick, Samuel and
Michael (who proceeded him in death), godson Dominic Ridgeway
and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial Service Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home
