Earl Mills also known as Ike age 46 departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2012, at University Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 18, 1965, in the Baltimore City at Franklin Square Hospital. He was the oldest son of the late Earl Mills and Leanna Mason. Ike received his formal education through the Baltimore City Public School System. Now, how did he get the nickname "Ike"? W4ell, it was a television show that came on between the years of 1964 - 1965 named "Kentucky Jones." the show was a contemporary comedy/drama set on a forty acre ranch in Southern California starring Dennis Weaver as Kenneth Yarborough Jones. He was widower veterinarian left with the responsibility of raising a newly adopted 10 year old Chinese boy names Dwight Eisenhower "Ike Wong." The day his mother brought him home form the hospital, she told his cousins his mane was "Earl." "No! His name is Ike because he looks like Ike on television." the nickname remained with him throughout his life. Ike;s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence exceeds the quantity of time in which on lives. His contagious smile those deep dimples brought so much joy to family and friends. He has touched many family members and friends in some way throughout his short, yet very memorable life. He was preceded in death by his loving father Earl Mills, grandmothers, Elizabeth Hayward and Emma Mills; grandfathers Frank Mason and Raymond Mills; aunt Catherine Gupton; uncle Franklin Mason; cousins, Frank Gupton; Ronald Gupton and Ralph Anderson. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Leanna Mason; God mother Eva Keys; daughters Canssandra Mills and Shanike Mills; brothers Zabriel Brockett and Tony Mills; sisters Elizabeth Gowdy and Theresa Mills; grandchildren Antonyo Nickols; Tyuawn Mills; Janay Holland; Aliyah Nichols and Meosha Watts, nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving relatives and friends whom were blessed to know him. Over the years we all saw hos his health deteriorated, but his spirit of fun and zest for life, was always present. He gave us all such courage as hope and reminded us of the preciousness of life. This poem gives us an inside look unto how he may view the world both in life and death. It provides our family with great comfort. Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be, a resting place along the road, to sweet eternity. We all have different journeys, different is a place, far greater than we know. For some the journey's quicker, for some the journey's slow. And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward, and find an everlasting peace, together with the Lord. As we all gather today, Ike is with us. He would have not missed this party
