Obituary

Earline Nettie Fraling was born on, Saturday, August 24, 1935, to the late Joseph Fleet Sr. and Lillian Logan Fleet. Earline was the last child born and the only girl. Her older brothers, Joseph, Jerome, and Charles all preceded her in death. As the baby and only girl, the brothers doted on her and were very protective. The nickname 'Lil piggy', given to her by Charles at a young age would remain. Growing up in the Cherry Hill area in Baltimore, she made many friends. On Tuesday, February 9, 2021, the baby Earline, transitioned to her heavenly home.

Earline received her education from Baltimore City schools and was a part of Douglass High School class of 1954. Her father, a musician played with the great Cab Colloway. Music was always a fundamental part of her life. It was no surprise when a romance blossomed between her and the late John H. Fraling Sr. John's melodic voice graced several choirs and was a staple within the area. The two would wed July 6, 1952. From this harmonious union seven children were born, Machaella (preceded in death), John Jr. (Haywood), Herchal (preceded in death), one grandchild Trina Clark (preceded in death) Sherri, Earl, Shernella, and Andre. Her oldest grandchildren, Ronald Jr., and Tyronna were raised as her own, helped care for her in the end, and held a special place in her heart.

Earline was very nurturing, she stayed home to care for her seven kids and husband. It wasn't until her youngest began school that she secured a job with the manufacturer, Lion Brothers. At Lion brothers she enjoyed making patches, making new friends, and sharing stories about her family.

Even with her new position, Earline's role of a wife and mother remained her priority. She had a close and special relationship with each of her children. Long car rides with her husband brought her joy. It was during these rides she would have a live personal concert, her favorite hymns being Troubles of the World and Walk Around Heaven. They spent 52 years together before John transitioned in February 2003.

Later that year, Earline would retire from Lion Brothers. Earline then devoted more time to her family. Often, she cared for her grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren. A lot of her spare time was also devoted to fellowship at New Bethel under pastor Earl Tucker Sr. and Christ Deliverance Church under Rev Jacobs. Big family gatherings with meals just as big were also favored. Her other hobbies included going to the yard sales, thrift stores, doing charity work, and watching gospel concerts. Bingo and Maryland Live. Casino also kept her entertained, her all-time favorite, Spin and Win. She enjoyed this pastime with her daughters and was very popular among other patrons, as they affectionately called her Mama.

Earline will be remembered for her contagious smile, outspoken spirit, and heart of gold. Everywhere she would go, she'd make a friend. Earline was the internet before the internet, if you wanted to know where the sales were, needed advice, or just what was going on, call Earline.

Mother and wife however were her proudest accomplishments. Even in her final days, she stayed in tune with her children, could sense when something was amiss without anyone uttering a word. Old tapes of John's singing would calm her, bring her peace and ultimately bring her home.

She will continue to be honored and celebrated as loving stories of her heart of gold, magnetic spirit and wittiness get passed on from generation to generation.

Earline legacy lives through her children, John Jr., Sherri Fraling, Earl, Shernella Fraling, and Andre. 3 daughters-in-law, Donna, Gwendolyn, and Denise. Sisters-in-law, Valerie Fraling, and Mary Clarke. A special personal chef, Robert Hanna. 17 Grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, special friends, nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and dear friends.
