Obituary

EARLYN LaGRETTA JOHNSON, affectionately known as "Gretta," was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on June 29, 1947 to Dorothy Johnson and the late Earl Baker. Dorothy later married the late Richard Weaver, whom Gretta loved dearly. Gretta transitioned peacefully from this life on October 19, 2013 at her home. Gretta was educated in the public schools of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Upon graduation from E. E. Smith High School, Gretta moved to Baltimore, Maryland and completed Cortez Peters School of Business. She settled in at the Social Security Administration (SSA) where she remained for twenty years. Most of her professional experience included customer service positions. Gretta displayed an exemplary work ethic. She was punctual, dedicated, exuded excellent customer relations and collegiality. She continued to work throughout her illness. Gretta's love for her country led her to join the Air Force Reserves where she served a four year tenure. She also worked at AT&T for eighteen years. Most recendy, Gretta was employed at Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). Gretta loved children and had a zest for life. Family meant the world to her and she would do anything for those she loved. She was always willing to render assistance to anyone in need. Gretta was easygoing and had a very laid back personality; however, Gretta would speak her mind when necessary. Music brought much enjoyment to Gretta, in fact she had a large collection of various genres of music. Gretta leaves to cherish her memory: her mother, Dorothy Weaver, known to all as "Mother Dear"; her uncle, Warner Johnson (Louise) of Raleigh, NC; her brothers, Richard Weaver, Jr. (Arnetta) of Fayetteville, NC, Bobby Weaver (Paulette) of Fayetteville, NC, Bruce Weaver (Beverly) of Tulane, TX, Alton Weaver of Houston, TX, Richard Herbert of Baltimore, MD and Preston Weaver of Atlanta, GA. There is also a host of cousins and many very special friends who will miss Gretta dearly. Memorial Service Shiloh CC Church Friday, October 25, 2013 10:30 AM Email Details 825 Yale Ave
