Obituary

Eddie Lee Drake, Jr., first born son of the late Annie Mae and Eddie Lee Drake, Sr., began life's journey on March 3, 1937 in Sandtown, Baltimore, Maryland. He began his new journey in eternity on Sunday, August 21, 2011 after an eleven-year battle with Alzheimer's. "June" as he was known to family and "Drake" to his co-worker, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. Instead of graduating from Frederick Douglass High School, he decided to complete his senior year in the Air Force and enlisted at the age of eighteen, Spending most of his tour of duty in Houston, Texas, he was honorably discharged in 1959. Drake worked at the Domino Sugar Refinery for 36 years: he retired in 1999. It was at Domino that he met Denise Watson. They lit up each other's lives, and were married on March 6, 1998. Drakes outward facial expression was one of seriousness, and some said "mean", but once he warmed up to you, and you to him, you learned that his sense of humor and his heart were as enormous as the wide grin that could break out on his face especially when he blessed you with one of his many nicknames like; "zipper-head', two-heads", "chocolate chip", "fatty-pooh", and "steeple-jack". Drake was always proud of his appearance, and when he got dressed, he was GQ from head to toe. He loved his Stacey Adams shoes. He had them in every color, kept them shined, and the stitches immaculately clean. If you dared to step on them, you got a killer look, or even worse, a "bleep-bleep" comment. Drake also loved reading the newpaper, fishing, and bowling. Most of all, he loved and enjoyed being with his family. He would have been proud of how his loved ones cared for him in his final months: wife Denise, daughter Cheryl, brother-in-law Kevin, and stepson Lump. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife Denise: four daughters; Rarslen "Lily" Lyons Cliff; Renee "Butch" Drake, Cherly " Monk" Pearson Kenny and Wanda "Peachy Cake" Waters Jimmy; three sons; Andre "Chucky" Kim, Sean "Bossie" Tanya and Dwayne "Moey" Dee; Eighteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; one sister Pattie Owens; one stepson; Raymond; four sisters-in- law; Vickie, Robin, Diane, and Cleo; one brother-in-law, Kevin; two uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
