God called of His own Eddie R. Myler to eternal rest on Manday morning, May 23, 2011. "Cuddie" as he was affectionately called was the son of the late William and Emma Myler. Eddie was born on December 23, 1917 in Sussex County, Virginia. Eddie received his education at the Creath School in Sussex County, Virginia, and was smart beyond his years. He married the beautiful Willie Mae Parham on January 13, 1941 and from this union came one daughter, Shirley Leigh Myler. He was a loving and devoted husband ad father. Eddie worked for the Bethlehem Steel Corporation in Baltimore, Maryland and after retiring had time to spend with his famiy. While he enjoyed many hobbies, his biggest joy was gardening. Whether it was planting flowers around the house or breaking ground for fruits and vegetables. Eddie could spend hours tending to his many gardners. His harvest of fresh food was always bountiful, and as a result he was able to share with friends and relatives. Eddie knew his way around a kitchen, and created delicious dishes for his family. His potato soup, sweet potato pie and melted cheese with biscuits were just some of his favorites. Eddie learned how to play the piano on his own and in the evenings could heard entertaining his family. He had a love of watching old western and spent summer evenings listening to bassebasll games on the radio. Intelligent, charming, humorous, opinionated, tenacious...these are just a few words that sum up Eddie Mayler's qualities. Though he will be greatly missed, he enriched our lives and his spirit lives on in our memories. Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Myler and daughter, Shirley L. Bates.
