Edith Rebecca King, was born on June 24, 1917 in Norfolk, Virginia, the only child of the late Joseph and Naomi King. She departed this life on September 7, 2007 at 11:05 p.m. at Caton Manor Nursing Home. Edith received her education at Booker T. Washington school in Norfolk, Virginia. She came to Baltimore at an early age. In 1960 she joined Cornerstone Baptist Church and stayed there until she joined New Psalmist Baptist Church in 1980. Edith belonged to a number of organizations, The Dorcus Society and the Volunteers of New Psalmist Baptist Church, Great Southern Temple #30, a Past State President and Past Grand Daughter Ruler of the Elks. She also belong to the Reindeer Purity Chapter #7, member of the Eastern Star, guilding Light #18 and Peace and Harmany Council #1. She leaves to cheerish her memory; her cousins, Albert Donnie Stevens and his wife Helen, cousin Lou McCutchen from Newport News, Virginia, and a cousin she called sister from Newport News, Virginia, Mary Scott; other family members, Sarah Frazier, Zakiya Lumumba and Lavator Hooper; devoted friends, Lillie M. Driver, Sarah Perkins and Bernice Anderson; and many other friends too numerous to name.
