Edith Mathes, was born on August 31, 1919 in Richmond, Virginia. She was adopted and raised by the late Mable Goines. She departed this life after a lengthy illness on January 25, 2015. She received her education in the Richmond Virginia Public School System. At an early age Edith came to Baltimore, Maryland to work in the domestic field, while raising three sons. She leaves to mourn: three sons, Roland George Whittington who preceded her in death, Darnell Mcl.aughlin and Jeffrey Lee; one goddaughter, Mary Odoms; 11 grandchildren, Carolyn Jenkins- Whit- tington, Adam Whittington, Verna Whittington, Rhonda Bates, Ricky Thorne, Marvin Whittington, Jermaine Whittington, Ronald Ingram, Danean McLaughlin, Darnell McLaughlin Jr., and Danyalle Robin- son; 34 great grandchildren, 43 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and relatives andfriends.
