Obituary

Edna Mae Scott, Daughter of Robert and Mary B. Redmond Scott, was born in Gloucester, Virginia on October 3, 1935. Surrounded by the love of family and friends she entered into eternal rest on December 1, 2012. At an early age Edna accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior, and joined New Mount Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. S.F. Harris. She was educated in Gloucester County Public Schools. Upon leaving Gloucester, Virginia Edna journeyed to Baltimore, Maryland. After many years working as a dedicated retail employee she retired from Hurtzler's Department Store. Over the next thirty years Edna continued to work as a caretaker for homes around East Point, Maryland. Since August 1990 Edna Mae has been a proud member of New Shiloh Baptist Church, where she served on the Agape Usher Board. She enjoyed ushering people into the house of the lord, and truly loved her Usher Board family. She was excited to spend time with other members of "The Gang", visiting other churches, traveling, attending plays, and going on shopping trips. Edna treasured her loved ones dearly. She always looked forward to seeing family and friends, getting together to eat, laugh, sing and dance, and of course play a round of cards. Edna Mae was preceded in death by her son James Scott, grandson Miguiel Bailey. She is also preceded by her parents, Robert and Mary B. Scott, and her brother William "Teeny Billy" Scott. Edna leaves to cherish her memories her son, Michael Bailey Billie Ruth and daughter Linda Scott Woodies; two grandsons Shawn Chase and Michael T. Ruth.
