Edward Nathaniel Elem, son of the late Robert and
Maddie Elem, entered this world on July 10, 1947 in
Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on Tuesday,
November 3,2015 at the age of 68 after a lengthy illness.

Edward received his education in the Baltimore
City school system. After graduation, he worked for
many different cement contracting companies before
finally retiring from P. Flannigan & Sons.

He has two daughters, Surrita Kendrick and
Katrina Elem and one step-son Rodney Jones. He mar-
ried his life-long companion of 38 years, Evelyn earlier
this year.

Edward enjoyed fishing, cooking like a master
southern chef, and playing cards. He had many friends.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma
Prentice.

He leaves to mourn: his wife, Evelyn Brown-
Elem; three children, Surrita, Katrina and Rodney; one
daughter-in-law, Linnetta; seven grandchildren, Deborah,
Jasmine, Linda, Kashina, Justin, Ava and Asia; four
great-grandchildren, Marquise, Marciss, Altreandos III,
andZai'Hara; three siblings, Robert Elem, Jr. (Bobby),
Shirley Elem, and Melvin Elem; his only aunt Emma
Jannie Weathers, two brothers-in-law, James Brown
(Frances), Allen Brown (Dorothy), three sisters-in-law,
Elaine Nelson (Bobby), Debbie Mumford (Herbert), and
Elease Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other rela-
