Obituary

Edward Leroy Fitzgerald, the son of Wilhelmina and the late
John Fitzgerald, was born on April 21,1954. He departed this
life, at Bay View Medical Center on January 5, 2016 after a
lengthy illness.

Leroy, as he was affectionately known, was educated in the
Baltimore City Public School System. He then enlisted in the
United States Marine Corps in June of 1972, and was honorably
discharged in 1978. Leroy worked for several companies, as he
pursued his dream of owning his own business. In 1984, Leroy
graduated from the RETS School of Electronics and he started
his own business, the ELF Electronics Company. After which,
he secured the heating and air conditioning contract for the
former Caldors chain of stores, from New England, to South
Carolina. He used his business to employ many of his family and
friends. His business flourished until his health began to
decline.

Leroy was a very personable man who made friends wherever
he went. Although he was a hard worker, he always took time to
make you laugh, fix some food, or help you with whatever you
happen to be doing. His kind heart was always willing to lend a
helping hand. Leroy was skilled in mechanics and home improvement
and would assist you with whatever problem you
might have. His helping nature continued even after becoming
a member of the Victory Temple Community Church. He surrendered
to the call and became a Deacon. As a Deacon, he served
as. the leader of the Men's Ministry of Future Care, Lochearn.
He helped with bake sales and trips for the members. His
influence will be felt for years to come, and his shoes will never
be filled.

Leroy considered family as everything. He loved spending
time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Due to our
family motto, "we accept all strays", Leroy had not only a large
biological family, but an equally large extended family as well.
He loved camping, amusement parks, cruises, and vacationing
with his loved ones.

Leroy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Annie Fitzgerald;
his mother, Wilhelmina VanDyke; his father-in-law, Earl Jordan;
his daughters, Shawntel, Monyette, and Magain Fitzgerald; his
step-daughter, Vonetta Parks; his step-sons, Jonathan Parks,
Sean Miles, Jermaine and Allen Wilkins; 12 grandsons, 10
granddaughters, several great-grandchildren, one sister, Lorie,
four aunts, three uncles, two very special friends, both named
Mike, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Viewing Joseph H. Brown Jr. Funeral Home Tuesday, January 12, 2016 04:00 PM - 06:00 PM Email Details 2140 N. Fulton Ave
