On January 29,1947, Edward Earl Parker was born to the late Walter Parker, Sr., and Mary Cooper Parker in Windsor, North Carolina. After a lengthy illness, he departed this life on Saturday, June 1, 2013. Edward attended W. S. Epheridge, a public school in Bertie County. He was a member of Sandy Point Baptist Church at an early age. In 1964, he relocated to Baltimore, Maryland where soon after he worked at several parking garages and for the Department of Agriculture in Beltsville, Md. He became employed with the City of Baltimore in 1968 and labored for 19 years until his retirement. Fishing, hunting, and scratch-offs were all things he enjoyed to do, but what Edward loved most was relaxing at home, humming and spending time with his family and friends. As a trustee of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church, he was a dedicated servant whereas he would even get up in the middle of the night to check the locks on its doors. In the summer of 1967, during a car ride with James Taylor, Martin, and Thomas, Edward met Celestine. She noticed him as the only single man in the group and they dated for nine months. On May 30,1968 she captured his heart in marriage and held it for 45 years until his ascension. To this union three children were born. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Jr., his sisters and brothers: Horace, Milton, Cordelia, Aronia Sr., Martin Sr., Cullen, Walter Jr., Claudia, and Ulysses. Edward leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Celestine Parker; daughter, Sharon Campbell (Bruce}; son, Brian Sr., Grandchildren: Shakeshia, Shakorya, Briana, and Brian Jr.; great-grandson, Kahlek; brother, Clyde Sr. (Carolyn) of Newark, NJ; sister, Olga Mae Heckstall of Windsor, NC; aunts: Meta Thomas of Norfolk, VA and Rosa Mae Sanderlin of Windsor, NC; many sister and brother-in-laws; and a host of dedicated nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
