IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edward
Sample
June 3, 1961 – September 27, 2025
EDWARD SAMPLE was born on June 3, 1961 at the University of Maryland Medical Center, to proud parents the late Hayes Sample, Sr. and Ethel Sedonia Brogden-Sample. He departed this life on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at the University of Maryland Medical Center- Midtown Campus.
"Gee", as he was fondly called by family and friends, was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and was employed by the Laurel Block for fifteen years until he became ill.
During his youth, Gee enjoyed hanging out on the weekends with his cousins, David, Lionel, Hog, Mousie, Jamie Blue, and the neighborhood fellas Joe Kirk, Pumphrey, Brian, Fats, Fish David and others.
As his illness progressed he became very secluded and more dependent on his family. He loved attending family gatherings, but on his own terms.
Gee had a close bond with his nephews and cousins who shared his home with him. Those guys ensured that he had what he needed and that he was safe and unharmed. They are truly going to miss him.
Gee had a quiet persona that family and friends loved and respected about him. He loved to go shopping and all of his caps had to match the sneakers! He was funny and well loved by all.
He enjoyed sitting in his bedroom listening to R&¢B music, especially the late Michael Jackson. He also enjoyed watching sports. The Baltimore Ravens and the LA Lakers were his favorite teams in the league. He also watched all the college games while rooting for the Maryland Terrapins! He recently started watching the WNBA games, liking the teams of Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and Aja Wilson.
I will miss his bi-weekly calls to ask if I'm going out to the supermarket and to give me his food request. The man lived like a king! He was such a joy for us to care for! Gee never married or had kids but I assure you he had the best life and care we could have provided for him. Without him our lives will never be the same.
To God be the Glory!
