Obituary

EDWIN O'BRIAN CHILDS, was born on August 16, 1961 in Baltimore City. He was the youngest of five children born to Lute Albert Childs, Sr. and Bernice Childs. On Tuesday, November 20, 2012, Edwin went to sleep after a lengthy illness. Edwin attended Baltimore City Public Schools, and he worked many jobs. He loved working with children, and he also loved to cook, go fishing with his brothers, hunting and traveling. He also liked having cookouts for his neighborhood friends and family. Edwin would read the Bible looking for answers on how to be approved by God. Gail, his loving wife, would pray with her husband and read daily Psalm 23. His brother, Albert, would read Rev. 21:1-5, helping Edwin to be comforted by God's word so that he could rest and have hope of resurrection. Edwin's mother, Bernice Childs and brother, Calvin Childs-Bey, would pray with him daily to help him cope with his illness. Edwin was married to Gail Jones Childs on September 23, 2000. He was an excellent husband and father. Edwin leaves to cherish his memory: three daughters, Adrien, Mellai and Irene; stepchildren, Shawn, Teresa and Sierra; grandchildren, Deonta, Kiara, Rahmell, Japera, Kristen, Joshua, Asia, Deja, Zorey, Shania and Shanyce; his mother, Bernice Childs; grandmother, Marie Holmes; brothers, Calvin Childs-Bey and Albert Childs Jr.; sisters-in-law, Cheryl and Darlene Childs, brother Micheal Childs and sister Brenda Hall preceded him in death; nieces, Erica Hall and Lakesia Miller; nephew, John Hall, IV and his wife, Darius Hall; aunts Lucy Jones, Evelyn Coleman and Shirley Carlett; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and special friends.
