Obituary

Eleanor Lee, the daughter of the late Helen and Henry Jenkins,was born on November 26, 1932, in Baltimore, Maryland. Sheattended Thomas E. Hayes Elementary School, Paul DunbarHigh School and Coppin State College where she graduated in1965 and obtained her bachelor's degree in Education.



In 1953, she married Herman Lee Sr and from this union threechildren were born, Herman Lee Jr, Donald Lee and Torea P.Lee. As a mother she had a quiet relevance and determinationthat was evident in how she lived. Her children learned bywatching the way she managed life's challenges with grace,dignity and patience. It was those lessons that shaped andprovided guidance for years to come.After graduation, Eleanor went on to become a teacher in theBaltimore City School system where she taught 2nd— 4thgraders for over 25 years. She retired from the school system butcontinued to share her passion for teaching as a parent liaisonand Pre — Kindergarten Tester. Her love for teaching oftenexpanded beyond the classroom to her family and friends, whocan recall fond memories of life lessons and teachable moments she shared.



Eleanor accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early ageand joined David Memorial Baptist Church in 1988. She was adevoted servant, assuming the role of secretary and later treasurer of Baptist Women United. She served as the audio-visual coordinator, photographer, decorator, designed sets andprops for church plays and served on the dance ministry.



Eleanor or "Auntie", as she was affectionately named by hernieces and nephews, was a friend, confidante and role modelfor those who loved her. She enjoyed traveling, cruising,family gatherings,and roller skating. She was still rollerskating well into her early 70s and spent some of her lastskating days at Shake and Bake roller rink in Baltimore. Asmooth line dancer, Auntie never missed a chance to get on the floor and learn a new dance. She also enjoyed breaking thebank at her favorite casino in Baltimore, Delaware or Charlestown.



A woman of class and elegance, Auntie was a fashionista. Herattire just right for the occasion, her hair meticulously done,manicure and pedicure, matching jewelry, a hint of makeupand a neutral lip. She had a swag that was all her own. Although she had a quiet nature, she had a strong presence in thelife of those who knew and loved her. She was a jewel, like apearl uniquely formed without cutting or polishing, Auntiewas unique, simply stunning with a natural beauty.



Eleanor was preceded in death by her brother Matthew Jenkinsand leaves to mourn her loving children Herman, Donald andPat, one daughter in — law Mary Lee, one sister in law DorothyM Walker, four grandsons, Primus, Dennis, Jujuan and Joel,two granddaughters Tyeisha and Melita, 16 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, a specialgreat niece Tiffany Giles, great, great nieces and nephews anda host of other loving relatives and friends.
