On Tuesday, July 2,2013, God saw that one of his angels was getting weary and called him home. Elijah Joe, was born October 17, 1953 to the late Isaiah and Mae Bell Joe. Elijah, the fourth of eight children, received his education in the Lee County School System. After high school, Elijah served 12 years in the United States Army. On July 24, 1972, he married Betty Ann Ballard and to this union, two children were born. Elijah was preceded in death by his parents Isaiah and Mae Bell Joe, and three brothers, Tracey McCain, Willie Joe, and Michael Joe. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Betty Joe; two children, Brenda and Katrice Joe; one stepson, Tyrone Ballard; four brothers, James (Joann) Joe of Tacoma, Washington, Earnest (Mary) Joe of Bishopville South Carolina; Isaiah (Erma) Joe of Rockford, Illinois; and Mitchell Joe also of Bishopville, South Carolina; one sister, Angela (Shawn) Gilford of Bishopville, South Carolina; one adopted sister, Luvenia Littles of Sumter, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Tyrone Ballard, Jr., DaQuan Dalton, Tyree Dalton, and Jo-Nea Dalton; two brothers in-law, James Brown (a special friend), and Willie (Brenda) Brown; three sisters in-laws, Mary (Carroll) Travers, Henrietta Brown, and Annette Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
