Elizabeth Florence Roberts Caldwell was born to the late Pearl Benson Roberts and Troy Robertson January 29, 1918 in Flovilla Georgia. God called her home on April 6, 2014 after a brief illness. Elizabeth received her education in Flovilla Public Sci1~ol System. After leaving Flovilla Georgia, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she was employed as a nanny. During her leisure she traveled to many places. She moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1937 taking on varlcus jobs as a professional photographer on the well-known Pennsylvania Avenue. As a photographer some of her assignments led her to photograph some of the greatest black entertainers of that era. She also was employed as a domestic worker. In 1945 she met and married the late Crawford Robert Caldwell. Out of this union they had 12 children; preceding her in death were Albert, James, Leonard, Rosalind, Crawford Jr.and Donald. She enjoyed working with her hands and was very creative. Her hobbies were restoring old furniture, sewing, gardening, and writing. One of her hobbies led her to become employed with Milton's Antiques restoring and refinishing wood furniture. She later opened her own store, Monumental Upholstery. She received her certification as a visiting nurse from John Hopkins Visiting Nurse Association. Elizabeth worked for the Agency serving clients in their homes throughout Baltimore City until she retired at age 79. She had a passion for helping others and volunteering. Her participation in the Democratic Club led her to become more involved in community activism. She was one of the co-founders of Ashburton/Presbury Community Association. She attended and supported local and municipal agencies, such as ARCO, Coppin Heights, Western District Baltimore City Police Office of Community Relations, the Mayor's Office, the Office of Baltimore City Council, and for many years served as an election judge. She received many awards and recognitions for her outstanding achievements working within the community. Elizabeth was a dedicated and spiritual woman. Her faith led her to Mt Hebron Baptist Church where she rededicated her life in October, 1976 under the late Rev. Paris S. Thompson. She was actively involved with the Missionary Ministr'l and the Sunday school. Some of the activities she enjoyed participating in, included food pantry, clothing drive, feeding the homeless, and visiting the sick. She leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: 6 daughters, Patsy Brown, Vastine Holliday (Lawrence), Joyce Young, Irma Miller (Charles), Jean Caldwell, Cynthia Sanders and a daughter-in-law Patrice Caldwell of Norfolk, Virginia; one beloved sister, Sarah Hudgins and one brother, Troy Roberts, Jr; fifteen grandchildren, Antoinette Williams (Robert), Claudette Brown, Elizab~th Dickinson (Kevin), Randy Holliday (Deidra), Laura Stanford (Thomas), Lisa Conti (Ralph), Paula Frazier, Larry Young (Torione), Damon Young (Tammera), Dawn Young Cheeks (Albert), LaShelia Miller, Ravic Miller (Jennifer), Shani Jone(Devin), Octavia Byrd, and Malcolm Sanders; twenty-two great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, two Godsons, Ray Crankfield of Jackson Georgia and James D.
