Obituary

ELIZABETH LUCILLE JAMES was born on June 1, 1947 in Florence, South Carolina. She was called home to glory on February 18, 2015. Where she attended school and where she was employed was what she did, it was not who she was. Elizabeth or Sal, as she was known by everyone, was a devoted wife to William Griffin (deceased), a loving mother to four children, Jacqueline Cussaac, Janice Cussaac, James Cussaac (Toya) and Melissa Gardner (Earl); a beloved sister to George James (deceased), Grandison Jordan (deceased), Soloman Jordan, Lee Jordan (deceased), Alice Jordan and Rebia Magruder (Randy); a generous and giving grandmother, and a caring great grandmother and aunt. Sal put nothing before her family and delighted in preparing large holiday dinners for them, throwing barbecues, traveling down south every summer and taking her annual trips to theme parks. She loved shopping and spent her weekends off at the mall and the Dollar Store. She did not leave a family to mourn her memory, she left a little piece of herself in each of her children to carryon her legacy of resilience, charity, faith and strength. Jacqueline personifies Sal's resilience, no matter how many times life knocked her down she got right back up and kept on fighting. Janice, with her giving heart, exudes Sal's charity - if you needed Sal, she was always there to help. James' faith in God's greatness and mercy stems from Sal's constant reminder to "leave it in the hands of God". Melissa's stoic, steadfast demeanor is a walking illustration of Sal's strength. Sal will be missed by all who knew her; however, all will take comfort in knowing that she is walking on streets of gold and living in a mansion in the sky with all of her loved ones who preceded her in death.
