Elizabeth C. Hicks, daughter of the late Arthur Carter and Ora Nickens-Carter, was born on June 23, 1923 in Brookvale, ""Virginia, Puddin, as she was lovingly called by friend and family, departed this life on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 after a lengthy illness. She received her education in the Lancaster County Public School System in Virginia. She accepted Christ at an early age at New Saint Johns Baptist Church in Kilmarnock, Virginia. She relocated to baltimore, Maryland where she continued her walk with Christ at the Enon Baptist Church. For a period of time she worked with the Internal Revenue Service. She then became a full time employee at John Hopkins Hospital in their Medical Records Department where she retired.. She fell in love and married the late Thomas McNeil Hicks. They adored their daughters, Wyonnie and Vickie. She and Tommy loved to travel in and out of the country. She also loved playing Pinochle and would play anytime, anywhere and at any hour. On her down time she would avidly wastch Oriole baseball and read the daily papers and her favorite Magazines, Jet and Ebony. She was a Lady with an heir of royalty; from her mannererism to her being a Diva of fashion. Her loungewer always included high heel slippers. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her three brothers, Arthur, Henry and Earl Carter and daughter Victoria d. Hicks. She leaves to mourn; her daughter, Wyonnie Massey; two grandchildren, David Campbell, III and Karen Solomon; granddaughter-in-law Patrica Campbell; three great-grandchildren, David R. Campbell, Kalyx b. Solomon and Kenneth Solomon, III; aunt, Pauline Nickens-Carter; two devoted friends, Grace Wallace and Grace Blackwell; nieces, nephews, and a host of other rlatives and friends. She will be sincerely missed by everyone who knew her.
