Elizabeth Simms,was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1915. She grew up in Calvert County, Maryland where she met and married Clarence E. Simms, Sr. in 1931. From this union came four children-three boys, Clarence Jr., Rayfield deceased and Irvin; and one girl, Ella Louise deceaded. She loved her children very much and was very protective of them. Later she moved to Baltimore, Maryland and made this her home. Elizabeth joined the Elks where she was considered a hard working and dedicated member. She worked at the Maryland Shipyard in the cafeteria. She also worked at Rice's resturant for the children at the school. She became a member of Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church under the ladership of Bishop Caesar and later moved her membership to Mt.Zion Baptist Church where she met Reverend Mills. When Reverend Mills started the Flat Rock Baptist, she moved there where she held the title ''Mother of the Church.'' She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Clarence Edward Simms Jr. and Irvin Aquilla Simms; two daughter-in-law, JoAnn Simms, and Margaret Simms; one sister, Marion Johnson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one sister-in-law, Stacy Simms of Annapolis, Maryland; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
