Elizabeth Mae Love Joy-Tate was born on December 14,
1934 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the youngest daughter of the late
Robert Lee Lovejoy and Ida Elizabeth Lovejoy. She was preceded by her
late brother, Robert Lee Lovejoy Jr. and her late sister, Louise Marie
Bland. She departed this life on December 28,2016.

Elizabeth (Betty) was educated in the Baltimore City Public School
System. She met and married Charles V. Johnson Sr. in the early 50's,
from this union they had three children, Rhonda Maria Johnson-Wilson,
Charles V. Johnson Jr., and James McKinley Johnson.

Elizabeth (Betty) worked various jobs throughout Baltimore City. Her
last employer was with the Baltimore City Housing Authority where she
retired medically working as a Security Guard.

In 1983 she married Bernard Tate.

Elizabeth (Betty), a member of the Lovejoy clan, affectionately called
"Betty", "Betty LoveJoy", "Nanny", "Tootie Fruity", "Butterball" and "Lil
Bits", was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt,
friend and cousin. She loved to manage and take care of her family, listen
to oldies but goodies, cook, shop, read and solve puzzles.

She leaves to mourn: her husband, Bernard Tate who loved her very
much; her children, Rhonda M. Wilson, Charles V. Johnson Jr., Wanda
Johnson her loving daughter-in-law, and James M. Johnson; sisters-in-
law, Sarah Tate, Angela Tate, Clara Mae Harrid, and Cynthia Johnson;
brothers-in-law, Lawrence and Paul Tate; six grandchildren, Garrett
Johnson (Deborah Johnson), Charles V. Johnson I I I (Danielle Johnson),
Nicole Jones, Chanda Johnson-Watson (Henry Watson), Chris L. Johnson
(Meuy Johnson), and Ronetta Harper; nineteen great grandchildren, Gar-
rett Johnson Jr., Dorien Ritch (Prestyka Ritch), Daquan Ritch, Ebony
Ritch, Jamal Johnson, Chelsea Johnson, Tiary Johnson, Treyonnia John-
son, Terryn Johnson, Nicholas Johnson, Evan Johnson, Gabrielle John-
son, Travaz Clark, Calvin Wortham-Watson, Kayin Watson, Duane
Boyd, Breyanna Wade, Koda Johnson, and Kalissa Johnson; five great-
great grandchildren: Josiah Ritch, Brielle Ritch, Dorien Ritch Jr., Sage
Clark, and Dameria Ritch; nieces, Claudia Cecelia Allen (Joseph Allen),
Sylvia Flemming (Lester Flemming), Constance Louise Gunther (Eugene
Gunther), Brenda Dailey, Sheila Glover, Samesa Woods, Sabrina Thick-
lin, Makeba Tate and Nicole Tate; nephews, Robert Lee Lovejoy III,
Clyde Bland, Kevin Bland, Anthony Timpson, Dion Tate and a host of
nephews, cousins and nieces.
