Ella Giles, daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Pair, was born on November 27, 1937 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. On Saturday, October 29, 2011, Ella peacefully transitioned after an extensive illness. "Sisco", as she was affectionately called, was one of five children, and was blessed to be called mother, wife, partner, sister and friend. She received her education in the Rocky Mount Public School System. After finishing her education she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she married John Linsey. Ella was a dedicated worker for Lord Baltimore Laundry for many years until her retirement. Ella loved her family dearly and extended that love to all she came in contact with. She also loved the Lord and showed evidence of that love throughout her life. She worshipped faithfully at the Southern Friendship Baptist Church where she was revered as a mother of the church and well respected for her wisdom and love. Her favorite song/saying was. If I can help somebody, as I travel along If I can help somebody, with a word or song If I can help somebody, from doing wrong My Living shall not be in vain. Ella gracefully joins those family members who preceded her in death; parents, Rufus and Mary Pair; daughter, Darlene Penn; son, Edward Lee Clark; sister Glenda Pair; and brother, Carter Clark. She leaves fond memories to cherish; daughter, Chlorice Hillard; son, James Boyd Michelle; stepson, Herman Jones Veronica; sisters, Fannie Myrick and Lavern Jones; uncle, Carter Battle; aunt, Rosa Hulin; companion of thirty years, Frank Doughty; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grasndchildren,, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
