IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elsie C.
Goodman
November 26, 1938 – September 12, 2017
Elsie C. Goodman
,
daughter of the late James and lola Gaskins was born on November 26, 1938 in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She peacefully depart-
ed this life on September 12, 2017 at Seasons Hospice at Sinai after a lengthy
illness.
Elsie
was affectionately known as Mom, Grandma, Granny Girl, Great Grand-
ma, and Aunt Elsie. She was the glue that held our family together. She received
a formal education in Anne Arundel County where she graduated in 1956 from
Wiley Bates High School. Then continued her education at Peabody Institute
where she received a certificate in typing.
Elsie
accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age at St. John United Methodist
Church in Pumphrey. As an adult she joined Gillis Memorial Christian Commu-
nity Church over 45 years ago where she served as an avid member of the
Sanctuary Choir. She had a devoted love for the Lord and was a faithful servant.
Elsie
moved to Baltimore after meeting and marrying the late Claude 1. Good-·
man in August, 1965. From this union they raised 5 daughters.
Elsie
was employed with Maryland Cup Co. for several years. Later she began
working for Baltimore City Public Schools where she met numerous lifelong
friends. She served dutifully for 30 years when she retired to take care of her ill
husband. In her leisure she loved to cook, donate to all sorts of charitable
organizations, and watch TBN. In her younger years you would find her tending
to the garden or participating in church events.
El
s
ie
was preceded in death by husband Claude Goodman and daughter, Maria
Jones.
Elsie
leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Michele, May, Teresa, and
Melissa; thirteen grandchildren, Jerrode, Glenn, Ashley, Brittany, Louis, Cierra,
Danyell, Eboni, Meka, Darien, Samuel, Shameirra, and Jabril; two siblings,
Joseph Gaskins and Myrtle Bates; special friends, Ben Wilder, Andre Forest,
May Hines, and Denise Brown; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews,
cousins and friends.
