IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Emily Marie
Staton
February 23, 1933 – November 24, 2025
Emily Maire Staton, age 92, of Baltimore, Maryland, gained her heavenly wings on November 24, 2025. She was born on February 23, 1933, in Martin County, North Carolina, to the late Mead and Agnes Manning.
Emily attended school in Martin County, North Carolina, and later moved to Baltimore, MD, in the mid-1960s, where she built a wonderful life for herself and her family. For more than three decades, she worked faithfully at Athens Cleaners, earning respect through her strong work ethic, dedication, and warm personality.
A devoted member of Greater Bethlehem Temple, Emily lived a life grounded in love, compassion, and faith. She enjoyed dancing, laughing, and clowning around, as well as caring for the sick and ensuring that no one around her ever went hungry. She was known for her joyful spirit and her beloved sayings: "Cover you with the Blood," "God is Good," and "God is Good to Me." Emily was truly a people person — welcoming everyone with open arms, a smile, and a caring heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Staton; her two sons, Randy Lee Staton and Kansley Staton; two grandsons, Columbus 'Dwayne Joyner and Alexander Glenn, seven sisters, Alberta Manning, Novella Johnson, Agnes Lively, Sarah Cox, Ella Mae Little, Wilma Jean Whitaker, and Lillian Thomas; four brothers, George Manning Sr., Raleigh Manning, Willis Manning Sr., and William Manning; and one son-in-law, Barney Howard.
Left to cherish her loving memory are: one son, Lenburg Staton (Wilma); four daughters, Emily Venise Staton, Slema Howard, Sylvia Arthur (Ronald), and Yvette Staton; one sister, Nollie. Evans (James); one sister- in-law, Laura Manning; one daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn Randall-Staton; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who loved her dearly.
Emily's life was a continuous expression of generosity, laughter, strength, and unwavering faith. Her legacy will live on through the generations she nurtured, the meals she shared, the care she gave, and the love she poured into everyone around her. Her life was a blessing, her memory a treasure. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
