Emma Jean Allen was born on March 17, 1952, to the late Samuel and Nasiree Allen in Kershaw, South Carolina. On February 16, 2013, Emma closed her weary eyes and peacefully in her sleep went home to be with her parents, siblings, and Our Heavenly Father. She received her education in Baltimore, Md. She was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church, and in later years became a member of Bethel AME Church. She held several jobs, but none was more fulfilling to her than doing private duty care for elders. Emma, known to many as "Jean", was noted for her stylish ways, her gift of gab, her photogenic smile and the way she loved to look up to her big sister, Lois. She loved to dance with her daughter, laugh with her sons, and watch scary and old movies with her grandkids. Her lighthearted and warm nature will truly be missed by everyone who knew her, for to know her was to love her. Where ever she went, she was sure to make a friend. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, andfriend. She was preceded in death by: both parents, Samuel and Nasiree Allen; six brothers: Herman, James, Perry, Larry, Bobby, and Lewis; one sister: Lois. Although Emma's passing has been a very sad and difficult time for her family, we know that she is resting in peace. She leaves to cherish happy memories: three devoted children: Bryan Sr., Adrienne, and Cedric Jr.; seven grandchildren: Bryan Jr., Antonio, Tyeia, Myzera, Ja'Mira, Jonah and Cedric III.; three great-grandsons: Bryan III, Braylon, and Bryce; one granddaughter in-law: Cynaria; one brother: Charles; one uncle: Willie; three aunts: FollieMae, Ruth, and Melinda; four nieces: Monique, Tyshene, Tier a, and Nichelle; six nephews: Derek Sr., Julian Sr., Peter, Dwayne, Perry, and Tyrone; numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins, many friends, and her longtime devoted companion, Billy Sherrod.
